Rest In Peace Chris Garland

“We are saddened to hear of the recent loss of Bristol City legend Chris Garland after his long struggle with ill health. Not only was Chris a great footballer, playing hundreds of games for his beloved city , Chelsea and Leicester but notably was one of the Ashton Gate Eight , 8 players who selflessly tore up their contracts in order to save the club from imminent closure in 1982. A man who counted the likes of George Best and Sir Viv Richards as friends and will be sorely missed by anyone who had the chance to meet him including my dad Joe Royle and all our family.
